Keynote Speaker – Dr. Will Gervais

All people, religious or not, have wondered why they or others believe what they believe. Why do those people believe so much in a god? At a deep psychological level, the answers may be found.

Dr. Will Gervais (the s is silent) from University of Kentucky’s College of Arts and Sciences – Psychology will be speaking on why people do or do not believe in gods. Dr. Gervais is an evolutionary and cultural psychologist who is interested in why people believe what they believe about the world. His research focuses on the cognitive, evolutionary, and cultural forces that facilitate supernatural beliefs—and how these beliefs, in turn, affect cognition, evolution, and culture.
