I choose love

0

I guess at the end of the day… I choose love.

I choose to love my fellow man.

I choose to help them.

I can’t fathom the idea of choosing a god who very well may not exist over real live human beings.

To look someone in the eyes and tell them they deserve to be treated as a lesser human

because my invisible friend said so.

I choose humans.

This whole concept of hate the sin, love the sinner.

Or people who say, “I don’t believe in marriage equality but I have gay friends.”

Those aren’t your friends. You don’t have love and compassion for them.

You wouldn’t be arguing for them to be treated as second class citizens if you did.

At the end of my life, should I find out there is, in fact, a god,…

I will never regret choosing people.

I will never regret that I worked to make the world a better place.

Should this god looks at all I’ve done over my life and say

“I see you’ve done a lot in your life for people and animals,

but you didn’t believe in me so…

no heaven for you,”

well then… that’s not a place I want to spend eternity.

Send me to hell with the rest,

Those are the people I’m proud to call…

my friends.
