Upcoming Event: Identifying Church/State Violations in Public Schools

0

Tri-State Freethinkers invite you to attend our first informational session on identifying violations of the separation of church and state in our public schools. We have spent the last three years fighting against school endorsement of religion in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana with great success. We want to share what we’ve learned so that as parents and members of the community, you will feel confident in identifying, reporting, and standing up to unconstitutional endorsements of religion from the state.

WHO IS THIS FOR?
Parents, children, activists, teachers, and concerned members of the community

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
This is a completely free event

WHAT WILL BE DISCUSSED?

We will review a very quick history of the separation of church and state in public schools, provide detailed information on what is a violation and what is not, discuss violations that we’ve encountered and our successes, answer questions, and provide additional resources.

“Families entrust public schools with the education of their children, but condition their trust on the understanding that the classroom will not purposely be used to advance religious views that may conflict with the private beliefs of the student and his or her family.” Edwards v. Aguillard, 482 U.S. 578, 584 (1987).
